The certificate programs of Columbia College’s CoCo Beauty & Massage Therapy School teach the student the fundamental theory, hands-on practical skills, and client internship for their real experience in the future job field.

The cosmetology program consists of 1,500 hours of intensive practice and lecture designed to prepare our students to take the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology examination for licensure. Each course is consists of various sub-courses which gives a basic, intermediate and advanced skills and knowledge of chemistry, anatomy, physiology, hair cutting, hair styling, permanent waving, manicuring, pedicuring, facials and makeup and salon management. Students who have completed this program successfully can pass the state board examination and become open to the licensed cosmetologists, such as salon manager, cosmetic technician or school instructor.

The Massage Therapy program is designed to prepare students for employment as Certified/Registered Massage Therapists on Massage Therapy Examiners and state board. The program teaches a student to meet the requirement to become the massage therapist by providing a thorough knowledge of the structure and function of human body, and theory and applications of therapeutic massage. This program prepares the graduates to take certification exam that is offered by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Through this program, students will be confident and capable of becoming successful massage practitioners in a variety of professional settings.
